One crank drives the sails and millstone
The mechanical feature is the most interesting addition. A crank on the side of the mill drives both the large exterior sails and the millstone on the ground floor, so the movement is linked rather than split into two unrelated functions.
That gives the windmill a reason to be more than a tall scenic backdrop. It also makes the open rear more useful, because the internal gearing and the millstone remain visible while the sails turn.
From wheat field to bakery
The model is built around three connected areas: the wheat field, the mill and the bakery. The figures can harvest the crop, process it at the millstone and move into the bakery, giving the finished set a complete little production story rather than a collection of unrelated farm details.
Tulips, a chicken coop, animals, sacks, bread and the small delivery cart help fill out the scene. The bakery is especially useful here. Without it, the lower side building could have felt like an afterthought, but it gives the wider base a clear purpose and balances the height of the tower.
An open back keeps the interior visible
The rear of the building is open, exposing the mill workspace, apprentice workshop and miller’s room across the tower. The bakery is open at the back as well. It is a display-first solution, but it should make the interior details and working mechanism much easier to see than a fully enclosed windmill.
The main practical consideration is height. The model is listed at 17.32 inches, or roughly 44 cm, and the sails extend well beyond the tower itself. This will need more clearance than the compact footprint initially suggests, particularly if it is going onto a shelf.
Eleven light points and two power options
The integrated lighting uses 11 light points and three light strips. Warm interior lighting covers the mill and bakery, while white lights pick out the sails and the windmill silhouette.
