Lumibricks Football Fan Pub 20008 is now available from the official Lumibricks store. I am a big football fan, so the theme immediately appeals to me. But the building looks very familiar.
I have built and reviewed the Surf Shop 20004, and my first impression is that this looks like a football-themed reskin. The colours and contents have changed, but much of the layout is recognisable. For anyone who already owns the Surf Shop, that could make this a harder purchase to justify.

How Close Is It to the Surf Shop?
Put the official photos alongside each other and the similarities are clear. Both have a raised shop floor with an angled entrance, an outdoor staircase along the left side, a rooftop bar and a tall lighting frame at the back. Even the bar counter, bottle shelves and round stools look closely related.
The Pub changes the light blue walls to yellow, adds green trim and swaps the teal rooftop railings for orange. The palm tree and sandy frontage remain, although the sea and separate surfing wave have gone. There is now a paved strip, a sandcastle and a hot dog cart out front.
Upstairs, the Surf Shop’s music stage and backdrop make way for a football match screen and a table football build. Downstairs, football merchandise takes over from the boards and beach accessories. These are visible changes, but the overall building still looks very close to the earlier set.
I have not built the Pub, so I cannot say how much of the construction is identical. From the photos, though, a reworking of the Surf Shop is a fair description.

That is just 61 more pieces, with three extra lights and one more minifigure. The current list prices are the same in each market. In my Surf Shop review I wanted a few more figures to fill out the scene, so the fifth figure is a welcome addition here.
A Rooftop Bar for Match Night
The large match screen is the most obvious new feature. It shows a shot at goal, with a 3-3 scoreline and the clock approaching 90 minutes. The bar has bottles, glasses, yellow stools and standing tables, with a small table football build beside the screen.
Lumibricks describes the match picture as a replaceable PVC screen. It is a printed panel that slides out of the frame, not a working electronic display. The two spotlights above it and the coloured lights along the railings light the rooftop scene.
The tropical setting has stayed, right down to the small thatched canopy over the bottle shelves. This is a beachside football bar, complete with palm tree, rather than a traditional British pub.
Football Shirts, Boots and a Hot Dog Cart
The ground floor is a football shop with trophies, flags and shirts around the walls. The sloping counter displays printed football boot tiles and moulded caps, and there is a rack of shirts outside the memorabilia window. A golden football sits in its own display inside.
The drinks and dessert serving window now has a red-and-white striped awning. Beside it are footballs on a stepped display, while the separate hot dog cart has condiment bottles, utensils and a clear canopy. A small sandcastle and a loose surfboard keep the beach theme going.
There are 76 printed parts, including the large pub sign, football shirts, boot designs, bunting and match-night notices. The staggered sign beside the entrance has also been redone for the football theme.
Access, Lighting and Shelf Space
The rooftop lifts off to reveal the shop, and a hinged rear wall opens for another way in. The upper bar is accessible from above. Lumibricks includes 15 LED lights across the shop and rooftop, with lighting above the side staircase too.
At 30.4 cm deep, the Pub still needs a reasonably deep shelf. I noted the Surf Shop’s 38-stud depth in my review because it overhung my shelves. The new set occupies very similar space, so it is worth measuring before buying.
Would I Buy It If I Already Owned the Surf Shop?
I really enjoyed the Surf Shop and gave it a Highly Recommended verdict. The football theme appeals to me too, with shirts, trophies and a rooftop viewing area.
But as a Surf Shop owner, I would find it harder to justify paying for such a similar building again. The new details are there, and football fans may prefer this version. I just think the decision is much easier if you do not already have the original.
