New to Lumibricks? Here is Where to Start.

So, you’ve seen the ads. You’ve heard the name Lumibricks floating around. But you’re still sitting on the fence.

Jumping into a new brand, especially one that isn’t the ‘Big L’, can feel like a gamble. Will the bricks hold together? Is the lighting actually hard to install? Is it worth the shelf space?

I’ve built a fair few Lumibricks sets now, ranging from the tiny accessories to the massive modulars. To save you some guesswork, I’ve put together a quick guide on the best Lumibricks sets to grab depending on how brave (and how rich!) you’re feeling right now.

Testing the Waters

If you are curious about Lumibricks but aren’t quite ready to commit to a 3,000-piece monster, the best place to start is with a smaller, more affordable set. This gives you a taste of what to expect, like high-quality bricks and integrated lighting, without the complexity of routing cables through a massive multi-story building.

There are three perfect sets to start your journey:

Graffiti Bus Stop: This is pure 90’s NYC nostalgia in a small package. It captures that gritty street vibe perfectly, complete with rotating street lamps, a mini flea market, and a beautifully lit graffiti wall. It’s small, manageable, and packs a huge visual punch.

News Stand: If you want something that brings instant life to a street corner without taking up much space, grab the News Stand. It’s a fantastic little build packed with details like tiny magazines and snacks. It’s quick to put together, looks cosy when lit up at night, and slots perfectly onto any empty bit of pavement you currently have.

Heritage Tram and Station: Beautifully designed and packed with charm; this set nails the classic aesthetic and features a brilliant modular interior system that lets you swap between a commuter tram and a night-time bar.

All of these sets have buckets of charm, tons of character, and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Try one of them first. You’ll get a feel for how the system works, and if you like it, you can venture forward onto something more adventurous.

I’m Brave, Bring on Something Meaty

If you want to skip the taster sets (although, let’s be honest, they are legitimate city builders in their own right), you could test the ground with a proper modular building.

The Skate Shop: This is one of the cheapest modulars in the range, but don’t let the price fool you. It is dripping with 90s character. From the printed graffiti tiles (no stickers!) to the hidden rooftop hangout, it captures a specific “street” vibe that I really loved. It’s a fun, engaging build that isn’t overly complex.

The Record Store: This is a step up in size and technique. It introduces some of the unique engineering Lumibricks is becoming famous for, like slide-out floors that let you access the interior without taking the building apart. It’s a bit larger than the Skate Shop, but it’s an absolute bargain for the piece count and looks incredible lit up.

Themes I own (But Haven’t Built Yet)

There are other themes that I personally haven’t tackled yet, although they are firmly on my “backlog” pile: the Western and Medieval sets.

While I haven’t built any of these myself, they are extremely well-regarded in the community. The Medieval sets, in particular, are often praised for their incredible value and atmosphere. So, if knights or cowboys tickle your fancy more than modern cities, these seem like a very safe bet to try.

Ok, Just Give Me The Cream of the Crop

If you want to skip straight to the best of the best, these are my personal favourites from the last year.

Brick Art Gallery: This is arguably the most sophisticated set they make. The modern architecture is stunning, the lighting inside is very well done, and it looks like a premium display piece rather than a toy. If you want a “grown-up” build, this is it.

The Boxing Club: Another heavy hitter from the Street Fusion theme. It pairs perfectly with the Skate Shop or Record Store and features a fully detailed gym interior that looks amazing under the warm LED lights.

Cyberpunk Apartment: This is the set that defines their sci-fi style. It’s dense, vertical, and absolutely drenched in neon lighting. If you want something that looks completely different from a standard LEGO modular, this is the one to get.

I’ve mostly listed sets that I have built and loved, along with a few themes I’ve heard great things about. But honestly? I don’t think you can go far wrong with any of these.

Where to Buy Lumibricks

When it comes to buying Lumibricks sets, you generally have two main options: Amazon or the official Lumibricks website. Here is how to decide which one is right for you.

1. Amazon (UK, US & Europe)

For most people, Amazon is the quickest and often the cheapest route.

  • Stackable Discounts: Amazon frequently runs “double discounts.” You will often see a set already reduced in price, plus a checkbox voucher to take an extra 10-20% off at checkout.
  • Multi-Buy Deals: Look out for “Buy 2, Save 5-10%” promotions on specific ranges, which can stack with other offers for a huge total saving.
  • Speed: If you have Prime, you can often go from clicking “Buy” to building the set on the same day.
  • Sale Events: During Black Friday or Prime Day, prices here are usually unbeatable.
2. Official Lumibricks Website

Buying direct supports the company and grants you access to their Rewards Program.

  • The Points System: You earn points on every purchase which can be converted into money-off vouchers for future orders.
  • The “Voucher Catch”: It is worth noting that official site vouchers often apply to the full RRP. If a set is currently on sale, applying a rewards voucher will remove the sale discount, meaning you save less than you think. Always double-check the final total!
3. eBay (The Deal Hunter’s Wildcard)

If you keep an eye on things, eBay can be a surprisingly good option for both new and used sets.

  • Below RRP Sellers: There are often sellers (especially in the UK) listing brand new sets well below the official retail price.
  • Site-Wide Vouchers: eBay occasionally drops site-wide discount codes (e.g., “20% off everything”). If you time it right, this can make them cheaper than Amazon.
  • Second-Hand Steals: Since Lumibricks sets are huge, people often build them once and then run out of space. You can pick up pre-built sets for a fraction of the cost, perfect if you just want the parts or don’t mind dismantling it yourself!
  • Older Sets: It is also the best place to find older “Funwhole” branded sets that have been retired from the official store.
4. Australia & Rest of World

For builders in Australia and other regions, both Amazon and the official site ship to you. However, stock levels can fluctuate and more often than not you may be waiting a while before new stock becomes available.

A Living Guide

One last thing: this list isn’t set in stone. As I build and review more Lumibricks sets, I’ll be keeping this guide updated. I plan to swap out recommendations and add new favourites as I find them, so whenever you are ready for your next project, check back here to see what is currently topping my list.
