Iambrick Nest City Azurelight Hall

First look: Iambrick Nest City Azurelight Hall

As a massive fan of the castle theme, I always get a bit excited when a new castle/fortress pops up on the market. I have been very impressed with the Iambrick models I have built recently, so the Iambrick Nest City Azurelight Hall has gone straight onto my buy list.

At 2,668 pieces, this is a substantial build that offers a lot of depth for the price. Iambrick is quickly becoming a brand to watch for those of us who want complex designs without the premium brand tax.

A Modern Take on Classic Fortress Design

The first thing that caught my eye was the colour palette. The striking blue roof tiles provide a fantastic contrast against the light grey stonework of the main fortress. It feels fresh while still respecting that classic medieval aesthetic we all love.

One of my favourite features is the section of damaged city wall. It adds so much character to the build and offers great storytelling potential. You can see the scaffolding and the internal structure where the wall has been breached, which is a detail you don’t often see in standard sets. It gives the whole model a sense of history and “lived-in” grit.

The internal details

The hall includes several distinct areas:

The Armory: Displaying some of the 42 custom-printed parts included in the set.

The Tavern: Complete with tiny bottles and barrels.

The Alchemy Lab: Featuring poisons and a cauldron.

The Treasure Room: Packed with gold bars and gems.

Dynamic Mechanisms and Playability

Iambrick has packed this set with functional features that make it more than just a display piece. The folding design is nice, giving you the choice between an open-back layout to show off the interior or a fully enclosed, imposing stronghold.

The mechanical details are good to see, offering a lot of playability:

  • Lifting Portcullis: A dedicated switch allows you to raise and lower the main castle gate.
  • Rotating Crane: A functional crane sits on the ramparts, used for transporting stones to repair those damaged walls.
  • Moving Defences: Several parts of the ramparts and interior can be repositioned to change the look of the scene.

My Take So Far

The use of printed parts instead of stickers is a massive win for quality, and the story potential hidden in the “damaged” sections of the wall makes this a standout for MOC (My Own Creation) enthusiasts.

Whether you want an enclosed fortress for your shelf or an open play-set for storytelling, Nest City Azurelight Hall looks like it will deliver on both fronts. I cannot wait to get this on the table.
