Lumibricks Boxing Club 19009 Street Fusion modular with lighting interior detail

Lumibricks Boxing Club (19009) Review – Street Fusion Does Rocky

Lumibricks Boxing Club 19009 Street Fusion modular building exterior

Here we are again with Street Fusion. Yes, it probably looks like I’ve developed a mild obsession with this theme, but honestly, Lumibricks keep knocking these out of the park. This is also a brand-new release, so getting a review out early helps the site and hopefully helps you decide if this one belongs in your city.

This is a set I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. I first saw early previews in the Lumibricks Facebook group when they actively asked fans for feedback during the design phase. I went back and re-read those posts, and it’s genuinely impressive how much of that feedback made it into the final build. You really don’t see that very often.

And let’s be honest. A boxing club, gritty urban setting, Street Fusion styling. It’s almost impossible not to think of Rocky. I grew up with those films, and this set hits that same nostalgic nerve hard.

The Build and Experience

The build starts in familiar modular territory. Base first, then steadily building upwards. From the outset, it’s clear this set is going to be fun. The pacing is good, the details arrive early, and it never feels repetitive.

One of my favourite Lumibricks design choices returns here: slide-out rooms. This time, they go a step further. Two of the rooms are interchangeable, letting you rearrange parts of the building depending on how you want it displayed. It’s a fantastic idea and something I hope they keep expanding on.

Interior Design and Atmosphere

Laundry on the ground floor: Fully stocked with washing machines, detergents, ironing board, and scattered clothes. It feels right.

Locker room: Complete with graffiti-style pen markings on lockers. Small detail, big impact.

Boxing ring room: The ring uses gears and a turning knob to animate the boxers in a “Rock ’Em Sock ’Em” style motion. It works, but it feels like a safe implementation rather than an ambitious one. Independent controls for each boxer would have elevated this a lot.

Gym floor: All the expected equipment is here. One odd choice is the arcade-style punching machine rather than a speed bag, but it still fits the gritty vibe.

Loft/attic space: Dark, cluttered, and atmospheric. Exactly what you’d expect at the top of a place like this.

There are also some nice, gritty touches like printed blood splatter on the boxing floor. It’s subtle, but it won’t be for everyone.

Exterior

The exterior colour palette is excellent. Deep reds paired with lighter brick tones and that dark blue trim work incredibly well together. The building looks gritty without feeling dull.

There are loads of printed posters, graffiti tiles, signage, and shop fronts, all of which add to the street-level storytelling.

The back of the building opens up to allow access to the sliding rooms. It’s mostly functional rather than pretty, but at least there’s some texture rather than a totally flat wall.

The left side, however, feels underdone. One sign and not much else. If this is going into a city layout, it probably won’t matter, but as a standalone display piece, it feels like a missed opportunity.

Accessibility

Accessibility is pretty much spot-on.

All floors can be lifted off, the rear walls open, and on top of that you’ve got the sliding rooms. It’s hard to think of how they could have done this better. For people who care about interiors, this is as good as it gets.

The word modular gets thrown about a lot. I think this set is giving it its true meaning.

Printed Parts

The product description says this set includes 90+ printed parts, and honestly, that feels about right.

It’s almost like the employee whose job it is to count the prints got to 90, sighed, and thought ‘sod this’…

There are a lot of prints here. Posters, signs, graffiti, screens, floor details, wall art – they’re everywhere. More importantly, they’re all used well. None of them feel like filler just to bump the number up. Every printed piece contributes to the atmosphere and storytelling of the building.

Printed graffiti and signage pieces in the Lumibricks Boxing Club 19009

For me, this is a big win. I much prefer printed parts over stickers, and Lumibricks continue to absolutely lean into this approach. It makes the whole set feel more premium and far less fiddly during the build, and it really shows once everything is lit up and on display.

Minifigures

The set includes six minifigures, and they’re all well chosen for the theme.

As is now standard for Lumibricks, each figure has a name and a short description of who they are. These small backstories are a nice touch and show that some effort has been made to support storytelling rather than just throwing figures in randomly.

The boxers look especially good, and yes, one of them, with a very familiar hair style, is basically Clubber Lang in all but name.

Lighting System

This is classic Lumibricks. The lighting is spot on.

  • Adjustable exterior spotlights let you choose the mood
  • Interior lighting is warm and atmospheric
  • The boxing ring features two lighting modes: steady and flashing

That flashing light in the ring is a brilliant touch and really adds something different to the set.

It was also nice to see the green light lit up on the traffic light.

Instructions

The instructions are solid and easy to follow. Clear steps, good colour contrast, and sensible pacing throughout the build.

Cable routing is shown clearly, and nothing ever felt confusing or ambiguous. This is the kind of instruction booklet that lets you relax and enjoy the build rather than constantly second-guessing yourself.

Minor Issues

One downside is the traffic light. The wire is wrapped around the post rather than hidden, which feels lazy. The traffic lights were also in the wrong order. Easy fix, but worth a mention.

I do like the small painting scaffolding clipped onto the side of the building, but it slightly overhangs the edge of the baseplate.

Pricing and Value

At full RRP, this already looks decent for a 3,000+ piece set with integrated lighting.

I picked mine up for £123.99 on Amazon, which is frankly excellent value. Over 3,000 pieces, 90+ printed parts, lighting included, and a genuinely interesting build. That’s hard to argue with.

Even at full price, I’d still say this is worth it if you like the Street Fusion theme.

★ Highly Recommended

Verdict

The Lumibricks Boxing Club is another strong entry in the Street Fusion lineup. It’s dripping with atmosphere, packed with interior detail, and absolutely leans into its Rocky-inspired nostalgia without feeling cheap or lazy.

There are a few missed opportunities. The boxing ring mechanism could have been better. One side of the building feels underdesigned. Some wiring choices could have been cleaner.

But none of that overshadows what this set gets right.

It’s fun to build, fun to display, and full of character. If you enjoy gritty urban builds, interior-heavy modulars, or anything with a strong sense of place, this one is an easy recommendation.

And yes. It made me want to rewatch Rocky. Again.

Where to buy

You can buy Lumibricks directly from their official website or through their Amazon store.

The Official Site: It is worth knowing that they run a rewards program (similar to LEGO Insiders). You earn points on every purchase which can be swapped for money-off vouchers later—so if you plan to buy multiple sets, buying direct often pays off.

Amazon: Generally offers faster delivery and stock is more consistent. They also tend to have random discounts that the official site doesn’t match.

My Recommendation: I always check both links below. If Amazon has a lower price, I grab it there for the savings and speed. If the prices are roughly the same, I buy from the official site to bank the loyalty points.

Transparency: I purchased this set myself to review. The links below are affiliate links, so I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Read my full Affiliate Disclosure for details.
