Lumibricks have a brand new steampunk set up for preorder, and it is called Steamphant. Yes, they have built a mechanical steampunk elephant, and honestly, I kind of like it.
My first thought when I heard the name was how on earth they were going to implement lighting into something like this. But now that the images are up on their site, it makes sense. There are glowing lights in the mid-section that act like a power core driving the Steamphant. There is also a small lamp for the rider and an orange light on the head. From the photos, the lighting looks well placed and adds a lot of character.
There is a fair amount of gold on show, lots of chunky gears and mechanical detailing everywhere. It looks busy in a good way. Very steampunk, very over-the-top, but stylish enough that I can see it working nicely on a shelf next to the other sets in the range.
