Pantasy has been dropping a lot of new sets lately. Even though I actually covered the initial reveal of this model in my Retro Collection First Look post a few weeks ago, I completely missed the official release date sneaking into their active line up. The Pantasy Hand Crank Sewing Machine (85028) has now officially launched, and it is a nice addition to their Retro Collection.
At first glance, this thing looks incredibly fancy and highly realistic. I think Pantasy has absolutely nailed the overall design here. The colour choices are spot on. The sleek black body paired with the intricate gold floral detailing compliment each other perfectly, giving it that genuine vintage cast iron look. They have even used a large rubber tyre piece for the main hand wheel on the right side, which is a great parts usage that adds some excellent mechanical texture.
The Hidden Tailor Shop
One of my favourite details is what they have hidden underneath the main table.
Instead of just building a solid wooden base, Pantasy has included a small recessed tailor shop diorama. You get a little old lady minifigure, shelves stacked with fabric rolls, a tiny scale sewing machine, a wall clock, and even a miniature ironing board.
This was really nice to see. It transforms what could have been a very dry, rigid display model into something far more playful and interesting.
Functional Movement
Because this is Pantasy, you expect some level of mechanical movement, and they definitely deliver.
As the name suggests, the large wheel on the side acts as a hand crank. When you turn it, the internal gears mimic the actual motion of sewing. The needle mechanism goes up and down, and they even provide a small piece of custom printed fabric featuring their logo to feed through the machine. It is a fantastic touch that brings the whole build to life.

I will be completely honest. This is a very niche subject matter. It is definitely not a set I will be buying for my own collection, purely because it does not fit the themes I usually build.
However, I have massive respect for Pantasy for doing this. They are consistently willing to produce unique concepts that other brick brands would probably ignore. If you are a fan of vintage items or know someone who loves to sew, this is a beautiful and cleverly designed display piece. Even if I am not buying it, I really appreciate that they keep doing something different.

They do not appear to have a rewards programme that I can see. So honestly, I would just order from whichever store is cheaper.
