Since my initial post last month, Lumibricks Medieval Guard Post (12013) has finally gone live on the official Lumibricks site, and after seeing more photos and videos, my opinion on it has shifted quite a bit.
This is not the big Lion Knights Castle-style build that I am still desperately waiting for, but it is easily the strongest “castle-adjacent” set Lumibricks has done so far. It feels more confident and more playful than their earlier attempts.
What’s really won me over are the interaction points. There’s a rotating stair section, soldier training features driven by a spinning cog, secret passages, and even a very familiar Lion Knights Castle-style toilet gag.
Lighting-wise, there are 23 lights included, which is a surprisingly high number for a medieval build. I’m genuinely curious to see how they’ve used them, because too much lighting can easily ruin the atmosphere if it’s not handled carefully.
The one thing that did surprise me is the print count. At just 13 printed elements, this is fairly restrained by Lumibricks standards. They usually go all-in on prints, so this feels like a deliberate choice, for better or worse.
Overall, this has gone from a “maybe” to a definite buy for me. I have picked this up and will be doing a full review once I’ve built it.
