The Beach Lifeguard Tower

New Lumibricks Beach Lifeguard Tower (18008) Brings Miami Vibes

Lumibricks is expanding its coastal lineup once again. Quietly appearing on their “New Arrivals” page, the Lumibricks Beach Lifeguard Tower (18008) is the latest set to join the beach scene. It looks like it will slot perfectly next to the Lighthouse and the soon-to-be-released Moon Bar.

Here is a first look at what this set brings to the shoreline.

The “Miami” Aesthetic (And a Quick Fact Check!)

My initial thoughts on this were that the pastel pink and mint colour palette looked a bit too cartoonish, almost like something out of the LEGO Friends theme. When I think of a lifeguard hut, my brain instantly goes to the stark white towers from Baywatch.

However, I did a quick fact check and it turns out Lumibricks did their research.

The description mentions a “Miami Beach colour palette,” and they aren’t kidding. The real-life lifeguard towers in South Beach, Miami are world-famous for their bright, vibrant Art Deco and neon colours. The city redesigned them like this after Hurricane Andrew destroyed the originals in 1992. So while it pops with bright colours, it is actually highly realistic to the Florida coast.

Packed with Beach Details

Colours aside, this set has a lot going on. Coming in at 1,015 pieces, they have crammed a lot of story into a relatively small footprint.

There is a rugged beach buggy for patrolling the sand, a jet ski for ocean rescues, sun loungers, an outdoor shower, and a large sandcastle build.

The Shark Attack: My favourite detail has to be the little scene playing out in the water. There is a shark circling a very unfortunate swimmer who is probably going to meet his demise. It adds a bit of dark humour to an otherwise bright set!

Lighting and Prints

As we expect from Lumibricks, there are no stickers. The set features 23 printed parts, which include some fantastic professional-looking signage like beach warning flags, surf report boards, and rip current safety guides.

For the nighttime display, it features 6 LED lights and 3 light strips. Importantly, this set is part of their new wireless power ecosystem. Just like the Lighthouse and the upcoming Moon Bar, it has the wireless connectors, allowing it to easily plug into your glowing coastal street without a mess of wires.

A 2-in-1 Swappable Feature

Looking closely at the photos and the description, it highlights a “2-in-1 Transformable Beach Display.”

It looks like you can actually remove the main lifeguard post completely from the base and swap in the large sandcastle lounge scene to take its place. While it is a cool feature to change things up, I am pretty sure I would keep the tower in its primary configuration for the height and presence.

Will I Be Picking This Up?

Honestly, my initial reaction to this set was a hard “no”. I usually lean towards more realistic, grounded builds, and the candy-shop colours just didn’t do it for me.

But I have to admit, learning the real-world history behind the Miami lifeguard towers has completely changed my mind. I love a set with a story, and the fact that Lumibricks did their research to make it authentic to the Florida coast is a huge selling point for me.

While I am not 100% sure I will pull the trigger just yet, it has definitely moved from the “skip” pile to the “maybe” pile. It would certainly add a massive pop of colour parked next to the Surf Shop! (check out my review)
