Pantasy Radio (85048) Tunes In With Vintage Style

Pantasy Radio (85048) has recently released, and this is another object-style set that looks a lot more interesting once you get past the basic “brick-built old radio” idea. The official Pantasy store currently lists it at $69.99.

Pantasy Radio

More Than Just a Brick-Built Radio

At first glance, this one does a pretty solid job of capturing that classic tube radio look. The rounded brown body, cream front panel, gold knobs, and lit tuning window all help it feel vintage.

What helps is that Pantasy has added a bit more going on than just the exterior shape. The tuning panel lights up via USB-C, and the front dial is designed so the tuner pointer glides across in sync when you turn it. The power switch and volume control are only simulated, but the moving tuner is still a nice touch and gives the set a bit of life.

The cleverest part is probably around the back. Pantasy has built in a phone slot, and the promo material shows you can open the rear panel, place your phone inside, and use it as a little music-playing display piece.

There is also a removable internal electronics section, which is another good call. Sets like this always work better when they give you something to explore during the build, and not just a nice outer shell at the end. From the images, Pantasy seems to be leaning into the old vacuum-tube look inside, which fits the theme nicely even if it is obviously stylised.

Early Thoughts

I think the biggest strength from first glance is that this seems to understand what makes a good object build. It is not enough to vaguely resemble the real thing. It needs some movement, some charm, and at least one extra idea that makes it more fun to interact with. The lit dial, moving tuner, and phone slot do a lot of that work here.

My early impression is that this looks promising. It is probably not the most complex Pantasy release, but it does seem to have more personality than a simple static radio model would have had. If you like retro objects and you want something a bit more usable as a display piece, this feels like one of the better recent examples.

Where to buy

Pantasy sell their products directly through their official website, and they also have a store on Amazon.

Pantasy have recently launched a Rewards Programme on their official site. If you plan on building a collection, I recommend ordering directly from them to start racking up points for future discounts. However, if you’re looking for the fastest shipping, Amazon is often the better shout. Always check both to see who has the best current deal!
